Fabric Frustration

UGGH!! That pretty much sums it up.

So far, this blog has been pretty much roses and cupcakes.  Truthfully, my pregnancy has been all positive so far.  Then comes the picking of fabrics for the nursery.

I have been searching high and low for boy fabric and coming up short.  Because I am not into planes, trains and automobiles, or any theme for that matter, it has been really hard for me to find ideas that I like.  I thought I wanted to do a blue/aqua and orange nursery (shout out to my favorite childhood colors!), but finding fabric in that color scheme has proven difficult.  To top it off, Bill found a glider that is almost a grayish/blue color which he claims to be IN  LOVE with, so I'm thinking I should try and grant his one baby room request.  Yes, we are having a true color crisis over here in Oklahoma.

So far, all I know is that the following will be incorporated into the baby's room:

And

(well, minus the random facts about a baby we do not know).

Bill and I also have a list of things we want to build for the nursery, including: storage bins, a window bench and closet shelves.   If only I could figure out the fabric so I can get things started.  I plan to go to several fabric stores on Saturday, wish me luck!

Gender Reveal Party

Two of my good friends from work (hi Beth and Cathy) graciously threw Bill and I a gender reveal party last Wednesday.  It was just a small get together with 10 or so girls from work, and Bill of course, and we had a great time.  I did not take nearly enough pictures. OK, truth be told, I only took two pictures! What was I thinking?  If I had done a better job with the pictures, you would have seen my adorable friends all dressed in either blue or pink depending on their gender prediction.  I did get a blurry picture of  my friend Sharon, whose outfit was probably the best as she was wearing a pink scarf, pink shawl, and pink ballerina flats. She was also carrying a super cute pink purse.  I almost felt bad telling her it was a boy. :)

The one good picture we did take was of the cupcakes.  I loved the idea of cupcakes as opposed to cake because everyone was able to bite into them at the same time while Bill and I watched.  It was a priceless moment.

I know, A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!  And yes, the cupcakes were eaten before dinner. Bill didn't think I could make it through an entire dinner without slipping and saying "he" or "Evan".  He was probably right.

18 weeks

I think we are making headway over here.  As my dad would say, I have moved from a lil lump to a mid lump.

P.S. Bill and I are going to Babies-R-Us tomorrow to begin a registry.  Should be great times and I am overly excited.  We are also going shopping for a sofa table, which I know is boring in comparison.

Clothes

After the ultrasound, Bill and I went shopping! It was so much fun.  Then we vowed to not purchase any other baby clothes until after the showers.  Instead, we will focus on the nursery.  Anyway, here are the things we purchased.

I purchased the first on from Children's place based on comments from my sister in law Savanna that these are the best sleepers ever. Plus it has little bear feet, so who could resist.

Next up was Baby Gap, a truly dangerous store.  Adorable clothing at not so adorable prices.  We snagged a few things on sale and also bought a couple splurges that were just too cute to pass up.

The last one is my personal favorite.  I also like the third one a lot because it reminds me of a mini Bill.

With a trip to Florida planned for next year with Ashley, Darrin, and Mattox, I had to get this bathing suit when I saw it on sale at Crazy 8.  My little surfer man.

Lastly, we picked up a few play clothes that were major sale (as in $2.99 a piece).  These also remind me of a mini Bill, which makes me smile.

Ultrasound pictures

I love looking at these pictures. For all of you who have asked if the gender was obvious, you tell me:

Yea, it was obvious!  Now for a few other fun pictures:

And last but not least, an adorable, but lightly scary, baby face.

We also took a video of the ultrasound but it is really hard to see. I will try to edit it so that you guys can at least see some of it.

WELL, IT'S A..............

BOY!

The day started out with Bill waking me up at 5:00 telling me he was ready to go!  At 7:00 Ashley sent me a text message letting me know that I have to drink orange juice so that the baby is active.  This sounded like a scientific fact so I told bill that we have to leave in enough time to get OJ from Sonic because the baby would need it.

Here is a video of Bill driving to the ultrasound.

As you can imagine, he was relieved and excited to find out it was a boy!  Also, turns out that either: (a) the OJ worked wonders or (b) Evan is one animated kid because he was moving like crazy during the ultrasound.

Just stopping by...

I am just stopping by to say that we only have two days until the gender reveal!! I do not think I am going to sleep well tomorrow night.  You can expect a pretty great video on Wednesday!

Baby loot

With the BIG ultrasound scheduled less than one week from today, I figured it was appropriate to conduct inventory of the baby's items prior to finding out the gender.  I have to say, this kiddo has quite a few things.  In addition to the towels purchased by mom, the books purchased by me, and the onesie from Bill (all discussed in previous posts), here is the baby loot.

First, Bill's favorite onesie so far (shout out and thanks to Meme for the great present).

Next up, the Christmas onesies purchased by my mom during the after Christmas sale last year and a tie onesie that I made.  These onesies exciting me so much because they establish a very real time frame: Christmas = Baby.  It is so exciting to think about.

I know, the last one is technically not gender neutral, but since I am convinced the lil lump is a boy, I had to include it.

These next onesies were purchased years ago by Bill and I at target for 25 cents a piece.  I guess we were having baby fever, but knew the timing wasn't right.  I can't wait to finally be able to use these.

The next onesie was purchased by me in New Orleans last weekend. It is my favorite so far.   I just imagine a cute little baby with thunder thighs wearing this one.

The last up in the inventory is the most special to me.  My Granny Hantz (dad's mom) made baby blankets for  years.  Everyone wanted a Granny Hantz blanket and there isn't a kid in southwest Louisiana during the 90s/early 2000s who was not swaddled with one at least once during the first month of their life.  My cousins, nieces, and nephews all were comforted by Granny Hantz blankets.  I cannot even imagine not having one for my child.  So, years back (probably 5 years or so) when Granny decided not to make blankets anymore, I had to purchase them.  I have three blankets and one pillowcase that I will have stitched with the baby's name.

Beach vacation

A couple weeks ago, Bill and I vacationed to the beach with my family. We had a great time.  Although, when the doctors tell you that you burn more easily during pregnancy, LISTEN!!  Actually, I cannot be sure that I burned more easily because my sister and law and Bill also burned.  What I can say is that it takes FOR-E-V-E-R for that crap to go away. I swear, during my trip to New Orleans two weeks later, I was still peeling.  It was ridiculous.

Anyway, other than the crazy burn issues, we had a great time.  My sweet mom decided that even though the baby was in the womb for this years vacation, he/she needed a beach towel nonetheless.  Here is a pick of the cutest hooded towels in the world.  Bright colors, just my style. Thanks mom!

16 and 17 weeks

We are growing right along over here.  I think my belly is still not a clear baby bump to those who do not know me, but hopefully soon.  For those who know what I normally look like, it is obvious.

Sorry for the bra shot.  You can blame the photographer for that one. :)

Just as a reference, here is 4 weeks.

Wowzer!

Fabrics (for a girl)

It's official, I am in love.  In love with fabric.   No, we do not know that the baby is a girl. But if it is, she will have the most beautiful nursery!  Here is the inspiration
I ordered fabric swatches so I could make sure I like the fabric in person.  It was love at first sight.  Here is a close up of the fabrics.

Swoon!
